The education system within the locality is meant to support the businesses that call this their home. It all starts at the primary level. For example they have the St. Xavier High School which is a complementary provider for the Assembly of God Church School. Those looking for a traditional education might try the Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan establishment, the Poura Path Bhavan and the Vivekananda mission. Others are the Kendriya Vidyalaya and the Mother Teresa Lion’s School. All these provide great foundations for the population that wants to take advantage of the jobs that are on offer. Obviously there are certain businesses which do not necessarily require a formal education such as the Haldia car hire sector. However a basic literacy level is sufficient and so far this area is doing very well with a percentage that is above 86%.
Providing highly qualified candidates for local employers
At the college level there are a number of institutions that are supporting the economy. These include the Haldia Government College and the Haldia Institute of Technology. The Law College and Paramedical College is self explanatory. An institute of Dental Sciences and Research has been at the forefront of promoting the commercial viability of the locality. From a hospitality point of view, there are two hotel management training establishments. Clearly this is a community that has understood the role that education will play in promoting the economy. India is at the heart of a revolution that will soon replace the old powers in economic terms. Without a sound education, all these predictions will come to nothing. A growing conurbation like Haldia represents a microcosm of the kinds of things that will have to be done in order to remain competitive.
So far the Haldia Municipality has been nothing short of efficient in the way that it has handled the commercial demands that are placed on its doorstep. It is from this perspective that it remains an important consideration for all the businesses that are managing the various outlets within the area. The education sector is going to be very important in determining the kinds of applicants that businesses will have to deal with. If there is no sufficient provision at the municipal level then the outcomes are never going to be certain. This is a delicate balancing act for the authority because they will need to access funding in order to support the best institutions. So far the central government has been helpful in as much as they have created the environment under which partnerships can be development.
